Allegheny College Video Conferencing

The video conferencing facility is a great way to have our students and colleagues interact with people from all over the world. The video conferencing equipment was purchase in 1997 with funds from a Link to Learn Grant. Since then, the video conference equipment has been used in a variety of ways including for:

multi-college discussion with a book's author
offering advanced computer science course
team-teaching of course with 'real world" expert
viewing multi-institution satellite programs
interviewing graduate school assistantships

The video conference equipment recieved upgrades in the summer of 2004 to utilize the IP based video conferencing which reduces the cost of such conferences by transmitting sound, video and data across the internet instead of multiple phone lines.
