Once you have produced a report and sent it to an admin printer, it is sent to a unix print queue and then sent to your printer. It is possible to remove print jobs from the unix print queue using the new XCAN process. This will not immediately stop the print job from printing on your printer but will ensure that no more data is sent through the network to your printer. Only the remaining information left in the network pipeline going to your printer will be printed. This may be a sizeable number of pages, depending on what you sent to be printed.
Please note this process works on both Colleague and Benefactor.
From Datatel User Interface, enter the mnemonic XCAN. This screen will be displayed.
At this point you may type in the printer name or use the pulldown to select the printer from a list.
Once you have selected a printer and pressed enter or tab, all pending and printing jobs will be displayed.
You may change the N to Y next to any of YOUR print jobs to have them deleted. There are two important things to remember. First, you can only delete your own print jobs, not someone else’s. Second, once you select a print job for deletion and save from the XCAN screen, the print job is gone and cannot be retrieved. Please do this carefully.
You can verify that the jobs were deleted by selecting the same printer from the list again.
You can exit the screen by clicking on Save All or Cancel All or by pressing F3 (finish.)
